Growing up on a farm created my passion for agriculture, farming, and food. Getting a Master’s degree in Rural Sociology enhanced my understanding of the American agricultural system. Working for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has given me the ability to directly serve farmers across the country. The opportunity to return to my family’s farm to start “farming beer” is something I’ve been dreaming about for years.
Follow me in 2016 as I plant, grow, and harvest hops and barley just outside of Monroe “Cheese City” Wisconsin as I create a brew that I grew with truly farm-grown ingredients. Learn about this process as I document everything from beginning to end. Schedule a tour to come on out and see, smell, taste, and touch the actual ingredients that will be used in this farm-to-keg beer. Become involved and learn about the integral role farmers play in producing the agricultural crops in Wisconsin’s favorite beverage.
